Orange blocking Rapidshare

As everyone has realised by now, RS isn't down, but instead Orange is blocking RS.com! Sad
The possible reason for such a restriction is that Mauritius is running out of bandwidth & RS uses up most of it - which is a lame excuse indeed. RS accounts for only a small percentage - less than 20%... Instead of improving their network, Orange is intruding into our private lives!

There is a bigger question of Internet Censorship being debated here... who knows, in the future, Orange may well start policing the Internet & block sites that use too much bandwidth (YouTube) or sites that oppose it, i.e. BLOGGERS! Remember what happened to Facebook... Suspect

How can we bloggers fight against such Internet Censorship? Plz do discuss about it... Neutral

Edit: RS.com is up as from 10:30AM today. Smile

scratch

Can u plz elaborate on that? What you mean to say is that Guy talked to the CEO of company, who then complained with MT & hence MT stopped blocking RS.com? Is this it? Smile

Anyway, thanks a lot to Guy & the CEO for having done it!
cheers

Guys it was not that MT was blocking rs.com it was just a routing issue. Since Orange came it can be seen that at some particular time the MT servers are experiencing heavy packet loss ... you can check it yourself by pinging the MT servers from outside the local network at times when you find the net slowish ... and therefore some websites cannot be accessed properly or cannot be accessed at all ... did MT shift to orange routing network?Thats the question to be asked and getting an answer is not that probable. Orange is such a big prestigeous company and its a shame to find such problems ... I ask myself where my money is going??!!
