Oh yes.... Climate change is indeed responsible for what's happening (globally)... but what happened today was totally predictable!

& actually what we really lack is a Disaster Management Crisis System... cyclones are things of the past now... with climate change, we are facing unprecedented threats like tsunami, floods, lightning... Neutral

Bon... pou ene cyclone former pas zis temperature water (Température de l'océan) ki gter. Conditions en altitude,  Divergence,  Alimentation en air chaud et humide tousala bizin a considerer.

Enkor ene lot proof mne ressi gagner.

Voila temperature dilo dan ocean:

=> Which clearly indicate the ocean heat content was not favourable as water was below about 25/26 deg. For a cyclone to develop it should be well above 26 deg.

This proove that. NO SORT OF CONNECTION TO WAT HAPPENED TODAY. C juste ene xcuse, zot aser couillon pou croir zot (sorry li vrai)

Si temp water ti pou fort, then mo ti kav croir sa declaration la. MAIS LI FAUX.

Voila. End of  "Climate imapct debate" .

Re: Bilan la pluie

Post by carrotmadman6 on Wed Mar 26, 2008 9:16 pm

U've got me wrong... what i meant to say is that the unprecedented magnitude of such calamities are intricately linked to climate change. Has such torrential rain ever happened before? Why are getting more & more powerful cyclones?(warming oceans) That's because of climate change.

Weather will never be accurately predicted - they don't have supercomputers analyzing various conditions per km-sq... but even then the meteo station do have enough means to sketch an approximate prediction of what is going to happen - & that's where they failed - & they blame climate change. It's a lame excuse to dump everything on climate change for "catching them by surprise." They should be prepared to expect the unexpected. That's their job. & they failed in there...

Even then a torrential rain warning wouldn't have saved those people's lives...
& actually, don't people have common sense. You don't need to told in written to take precautions. Can't you take care of yourself? & you need to be ready for all these situations... it can happen anytime, anywhere.

I agree with carrotmadman. People should use their common sense and not go risking their lives just to see floods.
As for the meteo, after so many days of rain they should at least have given this alert, just for the sake of being on the safe side.

Mais si to lire man analyse in fer lor relation Storms-Climate change li pas enan tro bel liens ek contradictoire.

Par e.g, dan laner 1998 ti fer xtra chaud, ocean heat content ti very high, malgre sa pan enan mem man cyclones ti former, ni zot ti puissants.

Sincerely I fail to understand what happened today. I'm in shock probably or maybe I thought perhaps there were some intelligent persons out there responsible of major decisions, I found myself corrected.

DigitalBin I totally understand you Neutral
Roshan you must agree that this kind of rain never happened before. I don't remember having seen that and from what I have read from others, they havent too. climate change might be the cause and as carrotmadman pointed, the met service of mauritius could have predicted that even with limited equipment
