don't think so. check out comments @ inf's blog.

anyway, it doesn't affect me much. still, it's kinda sad that free and open source apps are not considered as alternatives to pirated products.

It's kinda hard trying to find a license to something that's worth Rs 210,000... (3675) AutoCAD 2008... there's no open alternative & i've got to learn how to use it at Uni. So that leaves only one alternative.... pirat

You should check osalt more often.
for autocad alternatives: URL: http://www.osalt.com/autocad

Do consider asking your tutor/lecturer about how students will do their work without buying Autocad. If he tells you to go for pirated products, report him to ICAC and go public.

Well, actually he hasn't specifically asked us to go for pirated products... but "getting a copy from the lab." is almost the same thing... Neutral

Thanks for the list... there's some interesting alternatives there! Razz

edit: Osalt.com RoCKs! I'm downloading most of them! Razz

The lecturer should have told you to use the software IN the lab. That's legal.

Copying the software and installing it at home is not.
